To Fix What Is Ailing You, Try God’s Powerful Potion

Psalms 28:6,7,9

Blessed be the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplication. The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, And with my song I shall thank Him. Be my shepherd also, and carry me forever.

Philippians 4:6-9

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things; and the God of peace shall be with you.

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Granny Clampett, who was a character in the old TV show “The Beverly Hillbillies” used to say that she had a “special potion for whatever was ‘ailing’ you!” And so it is with God,: the Creator of the whole universe also has a magic potion or powerful plan to fix whatever is “ailing” you.  The difference is: His works!  The first step in God’s plan to achieving peace of mind is for you to tell Him whatever is troubling you. Ask Him to “fix things” in the way that He thinks is best.  That way, instead of getting the “rhinestone solution” that you might have settled for, you get the “diamond result” that only God can deliver, the one that is tailor made for you. The second step in God’s plan is : whenever you feel yourself getting anxious, immediately flip your  mind from the stream of “what ifs”  to anything good that has ever happened to you, because guess what?  God had His hand in your victory.  God was your Shepard and you were the baby lamb that He tenderly carried and kept safe.  And finally, strive to make your life’s song a grateful and joyful testimony to all that God continually does for you.  That means, rather than going around like a melancholy blues song, which only makes you and those around you feel worse, act as if you yourself were a happy song.  That may seem simple and foolish, but as you visualize your words and your actions as a “happy, grateful song,” they will in fact come out in a sweeter pitch and better way.  You will feel better because feelings follow actions.  As you act in a more positive manner, imagining yourself as a happy song, sooner of later your feelings will catch up and you will feel better as you wait for God’s powerful solution to kick in.  And best of all, you will be a blessing to the people in your world, which is all God really wants: that and your grateful heart and happy song.
