And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.
It is so easy to be wrapped up in your own little world, doing your thing and just worrying about your own stuff. That may be the easy thing, but that isn’t God’s thing. God puts us all in the world together. He wants us to help each other, even when it’s inconvenient, even when you’d rather not. God wants us to help each other because He wants all of His children to be at peace. Even the ones you don’t like so very much, or don’t have time for because you are to busy doing what you want to do at any given moment. But God says “What you sow, you shall reap.” That just means the effort, or the stuff that you put out there, is what comes back to you. When you are kind and helpful, you are sowing or planting good seeds and as a result, people will be nicer and respond better to you. But even if they don’t, even if the people that you help are never so very nice or help you in return, that’s OK, because you can’t control what other people do, you can only control what you do. Choose to sow seeds of goodness, because ultimately that is what pleases God. The people you help may not have the spirit or the knowledge to help you in return, but God does. And God promises that at the end of the day, if you keep sowing those good seeds of helpfulness, even if you don’t feel like it, you will reap a reward.
