Toy Recall Due to Local Incident Expands

More than 3 million toys now recalled since local child choked on plastic nail in 2009.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Wednesday that it was more the doubling the number of toys recalled due to a 2009 Goose Creek incident.

Two years ago, an 11-month-old boy chocked when a plastic toy nail became lodged in his throat, according to the CPSC. He was hospitalized and fully recovered, but the incident prompted the recall of 1.6 million Little Tikes workshop sets and trucks.

On Wednesday, the CPSC announced that two more cases had been found that occured prior to 2009, requiring the recall of 11 additional Little Tikes products. That brings the total number to 3.3 million toys sold between 1990 and 2004.

The CPSC is warning parents to keep the toy nails from small children and to request a replacement by calling Little Tikes at 800-321-0183 or visiting littletikes.com.
