Train Hits Man in Possible Suicide

Coroner, Sheriff's Office investigating incident near Berkeley County line.

An Amtrak train struck a man on the tracks near the Berkeley/Charleston County line in a possible suicide, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The train was heading southbound Sunday at 7:30 p.m. when it hit the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Darnell Hartwell.

The death is being investigated as a suicide, said Salisbury. The Coroner's Office and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office are conducting the investigation.
