Hurricane Irene Could Threaten Area Early Saturday

Tuesday 5 a.m.: Overnight, a more violent scenario has emerged as Tropical Storm Irene became Hurricane Irene and the projected path puts the Lowcountry on notice.
The National Hurricane Center is expecting the storm could reach 110 mph winds as it runs up the Florida coast and makes landfall along coastal Georgia or the Lowcountry.
