Two Roadway Fatalities in Goose Creek This Weekend

Both deaths ruled accidental.

Two people were killed this weekend on Goose Creek roadways.

A single-vehicle accident early on Friday morning sent 23-year-old Javelle Moore of Charleston to the Medical University of South Carolina. He was the passenger in a single-car accident at the corner of Howe Hall Road and Charles Gibson Avenue.

Moore died on Saturday from his injuries, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury. The death was ruled an accident. The incident is being investigated by the Coroner’s Office and the state Highway Patrol.

The Post and Courier notes that the car Moore was riding in hit a tree at nearly 2 a.m. on Friday.

At 8:15 p.m. Saturday, 35-year-old Juvenal Lopez of Goose Creek was crossing Red Bank Road near Goose Creek High School when he was hit by a truck. He was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Salisbury. The death was ruled an accident and the incident is also under investigation.

Live 5 News has footage from the scene. State troopers believe that Lopez was in the road illegally, according to a report by ABC News 4.
