Lady Gators Lose to O-W in AAAA Semifinals

Goose Creek misses shot at state finals, 51-43.

Goose Creek's Lady Gators lost in the lower state championship Friday night against Orangeburg-Wilkinson, 51-43.

The two teams were evenly matched at the beginning of the game, getting halfway through the first period before either team scored. 

O-W scored first, and Goose Creek would take the next two shots, moving ahead 4-2 at the end of the first period.

The second period began with a flurry of baskets, with Goose Creek quickly driving the score up. But Orangeburg-Wilkinson brought a tighter offense, taking the lead at the half, 16-9.

Goose Creek continued to struggle to catch up, ending the third quarter, 33-27. The Lady Gators narrowed the gap early in the fourth quarter, but watched as Orangeburg drove the lead back up.

A solid effort in the last few minutes wasn't enough to get the win and the Lady Gators ended their season.
