Week in Review: Goose Creek's Big Ranking and Gators Win Again

Bloomberg Businessweek has again picked Goose Creek among its "Best Places to Raise Your Kids." The annual list includes one municipality from each state. It's the second year in a row that Goose Creek received the honor. Businessweek notes the area's assets, "from great parks to solid schools, to rolling bike trails."
Governor Nikki Haley toured the Alcoa plant in Goose Creek on Thursday afternoon and met with employees and their families, bringing attention to a rate dispute with utility provider Santee Cooper. "You've got an army that is ready to fight," she said. "We're not going to let a government-owned utility be the reason that a company shuts down."

The top-ranked Goose Creek Gators continued their playoff drive to the championship with a 41-7 win against Northwestern on Friday. They'll be hosting North Augusta next week for the final home game before the state championship Dec. 3.

Anthony M. Smalls, 32, of 1057 Willowood Avenue, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in last week's shooting in the Shady Lady parking lot.
