A look at the stories we were following this week.

After two nights of interviews with six finalists, the Hanahan City Council voted Thursday to hire a new police chief. Michael Cochran, an assistant chief in Lauderhill, Fla., will begin work Nov. 28. He replaces Donald Wilcox, who retired in July after 24 years with the department.

Hanahan Police investigators met with Mount Pleasant officers Thursday to discuss the possibility of additional charges in Berkeley County related to the growing sexual assault case against Louis "Skip" ReVille, a Mount Pleasant private school administrator and fixture in the local youth sports scene.

The state's School Report Card rating system rated Berkeley County again with an absolute rating of "Average," along with sure signs of improvement in the Goose Creek, Hanahan area. All of our individual schools rated at lest Average. There were also eight local schools rated "Excellent," meaning the schools substantially exceed standards. This includes Stratford High School that improved from a "Good" rating in 2010 and Hanahan High School that was rated Average in 2010.

The group then began a call and response message similar to speeches at Occupy rallies throughout the country.
