A look at what happened this week.

The story of the hurricane season appears to be Hurricane Irene. The Charleston coast went largely unharmed, as you may have noticed from the from the beach scene last Friday, but its impact was felt. Our beaches and loggerhead nests .
Before you put away the emergency kit and the hurricane map, in the Atlantic. Forecasters are saying it'll stay off the coast, but it's still one to monitor. And, lets all remember that Hugo made landfall Sept. 22.
This week, it's Jim DeMint's political world and we're just living in it. The Palmetto State's junior senator was in town earlier this week, making national headlines that he'll be stepping down in 2016.

We're hoping beyond hope that this is the last time we'll have to report about record heat this year but … the heat this summer . The previous record holder was 2010, with 83.1 degrees. The months from June to August this year clocked in with an average temperature of 83.4 degrees. Now, on to the coldest winter on record.
A traffic arrest by Berkeley County deputies led to the confiscation of more than 14 grams of marijuana. As of Friday, the for 31-year-old Brian William Verbarg, of 7414 Painted Bunting Way in Hanahan. He's wanted on the charge of trafficking marijuana.
