What To Do When You Feel Stuck Or Trapped In A Tricky Situation

2 Timothy 4:2,5,17

Be ready in season and out of season.  Do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.  But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me…and I was delivered out of the lion’s mouth.

2 Corinthians 3:5,6,17

Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of letter, but of Spirit.  Now the Lord is the Spirit; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Colossians 3:2

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.

Romans 8:6

For the mind set on flesh is death, but the mind set on Spirit is life and peace.

There will always be days when you feel as if you are in the “lion’s mouth.” Days when you feel anxious, unsafe, scared and most of all trapped.  Your fear comes because you are looking at the teeth that are threatening to devour you, rather then at the Hand that is trying to pull you out, if only you would take it.  The lion’s teeth are the bad things in your life, the things that are no longer working for you. And yet you just can’t seem to move away from them because all you can see is the trap, rather than your Liberator.  Fear of trying something new has frozen you where you are.  When you begin to feel overwhelmed about any situation in your life, take the Hand that will provide your escape.  Ask God to show you the direction that you should go, give you the courage to get on that new road, and to fill your spirit with peace about the journey.  Then, change the flow of your conversation.  No longer let your words dwell on your captivity, which are the icky things that were your lion’s teeth.  Instead tell others that you are intensely expecting a sign from God about the direction your life should take. Even talking about your change in focus will make you feel better, and serve as a concrete example of faith, hope and a strategy to the person you are speaking to. And that is how, “in season and out of season,” no matter what is happening, as you demonstrate your attitude of faith, you will be accomplishing “the work of an evangelist.”  You will be “fulfilling your ministry.”
