WiFi On The Way For County Office, Cypress Gardens

Davis says Goose Creek won't be the only hotspot.

Earlier this week, Goose Creek accepted Google's offer to install in four areas of the city. The service provides free access to anyone looking for internet access nearby.

The Post and Courier notes today that Moncks Corner refused free WiFi access when it was pitched to the town last year.

But there are some WiFi opportunities coming to the county seat. At the Goose Creek announcement earlier this week, County Supervisor Dan Davis said the county is installing its own equipment for WiFi service at the administration building in Moncks Corner.

"While we have access to the internet as county employees, the public and business folks who visit the facility don't have access to it," he said.

The county is also installing "garden-wide" access at Cypress Gardens, Davis said. "We're trying to enhance the uses of the facility for business and industry," he said. "A lot of conferences are held there and they need access to that."
