Woman Claims Father Stabbed Her Mother

Lester R. Chung, 77, charged with murder.

Goose Creek Police have charged a 77-year-old Goose Creek man with murder in the stabbing death of his wife Friday afternoon. Lester R. Chung is currently being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.

An initial incident report released Monday describes the scene as police arrived at 351 Huntsman Drive to find the body of Xiuying Wang, 61. Wang was the victim of multiple stab wounds, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The couple's daughter, Xiao Yun Yang, told police that she had brought her mother to the home to collect some belongings because Wang was allegedly in the process of moving out.

Yang said she watched as her mother walked into the home, followed by Chung. She then heard her mother's scream and she went into the home and witnessed her father stabbing the victim. Saying she was unable to stop her father, Yang fled and phoned police from a neighbor's home.

Chung answered the door when police arrived, reportedly with large amounts of blood on his arms. The man was quickly detained and officers entered the home. An officer noted that Chung appeared intoxicated and he reportedly told police that he'd consumed two bottles of wine.

Secured in a patrol car, another officer's report notes Chung repeatedly asked, "How is my wife?"

Police found Yang laying in a pool of blood in the floor near the back of the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Goose Creek Police spokesman Capt. John Grainger said there were no more details available in the investigation.
