Woman Dies In I-26 Wreck

Crash happened near a particularly fatal stretch of I-26

A Ridgeville woman died Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 26.

The victim, 21-year-old Tenille Russell, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury. The death was ruled accidental with a cause of death being head trauma.

Just before 12:30 p.m., the woman was reportedly driving westbound in her Honda Civic near mile marker 197. She reportedly drove off the left side of the road and struck a tree in the median, according to Highway Patrol. The wreck is under investigation.
