Jeep Driver Injured in Wreck With Train

Amtrak train in St. Stephen incident.

A woman was injured Tuesday afternoon when she attempted to drive through a railroad crossing and her car was hit by an Amtrak train.

The incident at 1:25 p.m. occurred on Nursery Court in St. Stephen, according to S.C. Highway Patrol.

Peggy Huff, 54, of Bonneau, was driving her 1999 Jeep Cherokee on Nursery Court when she attempted to cross the tracks and the vehicle was struck by the passenger train carrying 88, including crew.

Huff was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina. The collision is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
