2. Two arrested after burglary investigation at Greenville home under renovation (darkhorsepressnow.com) — Greenville police arrested two people after responding to a reported burglary at a Burns Street home under renovation, where officers say they found one suspect inside and another hiding in a closet. Both face burglary and trespassing charges, and one is also accused of giving false information and possessing suspected controlled substances, as investigators continue their work.
3. New Hardcore Band Spotlight: Cry Blood (noecho.net) — A new hardcore band, Cry Blood, is emerging from Greenville blending '90s-style beatdown with technical flair. They're preparing to release a split EP with fellow Greenville band Rakshasa and will celebrate with a hometown release show on October 23, alongside other regional acts tied to the local heavy music scene.
4. Greenville Tech plans AI and cybersecurity center (scbiz.com) — Greenville Technical College is planning a new Center for Applied AI and Cyber Resiliency at its Barton Campus, aiming to train more than 6,600 students a year. The facility will feature 18 labs, a student-run Security Operations Center, and corporate training programs to help close the Upstate's cybersecurity workforce gap and expand AI-focused career pathways.
5. Greenville seniors complete four-year sweep of homecoming Spirit Award (mycountylink.com) — Greenville High School's senior class has pulled off a rare four-year sweep of the homecoming Spirit Award, winning every year since they were freshmen. Students and advisers credit the streak to high participation, sportsmanship, and leadership that extends beyond spirit week into academics, athletics, and service to the school community.
