Lightning strike causes wildfire at Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge (wsav.com) — Smoke visible over Hilton Head Island on Sunday is drifting from a wildfire sparked by lightning at Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge near Tybee Island. Mayor Alan Perry shared that the brush fire is the source of the haze, while some refuge trails and the boat dock are closed as crews monitor the roughly 100-acre blaze.
