• Invasive yellow-legged hornets from Asia butcher bees in the Lowcountry (southcarolinapublicradio.org) — Hilton Head Island beekeepers and homeowners are facing aggressive, invasive yellow-legged hornets that are butchering honeybees and building huge nests under porches and in trees. Clemson University's response team and local exterminators are removing hundreds of nests across the Lowcountry, including Beaufort County, and are urging residents here to report suspicious hornet activity through Clemson's online tool to help protect pollinators and people.
   

• 12-year-old boy from Upstate missing on Hilton Head Island, officials say (wyff4.com) — Authorities are searching Hilton Head Island for 12-year-old Dominic Caruselle, visiting from Upstate South Carolina and last seen in the Palmetto Dunes area. Deputies say they're concerned for his safety and urge anyone on the island who spots a boy matching his description—white shirt, gray shorts, black hat, black backpack—to call 911 or the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office immediately.
