• Isle of palms launches affordable housing program for first responders (live5news.com) — Isle of Palms' LENS Foundation has launched an affordable housing program to help first responders live closer to the island, offering temporary housing, rental support, and guidance toward homeownership. Open to departments across the Lowcountry, the initiative aims to boost recruitment and retention while easing long commutes for police and other emergency personnel who currently struggle to afford living near Isle of Palms.
   

• Charleston nonprofit transforms shipping containers into stable homes for veterans (counton2.com) — From a base in Isle of Palms, a Charleston-area nonprofit is turning old shipping containers into compact, fully furnished homes to help reduce veteran homelessness in the Lowcountry. With fourteen units already in use and more planned, organizers say the relatively low cost could make this model workable in many communities, including those around Isle of Palms.
