Red Cross schedules blood drives in Lexington County (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Lexington residents have several chances this month to donate blood locally, including drives at Lake Murray Baptist, Lexington United Methodist, Lexington Medical Center Lexington, and Town of Lexington offices. Additional Red Cross drives are set in Batesburg-Leesville, Chapin, Columbia, West Columbia, and Irmo, with small thank-you gifts offered on select September and October dates.
2. SCDOT to Temporarily Close Exit on I-26 in Lexington County for New Ramp Alignment (westmetronews.com) — Drivers in and around Lexington County should prepare for a temporary closure of the I-26 eastbound Exit 129 ramp to US 21 from Friday night, September 11, through early Monday, September 14. A signed detour will route eastbound traffic to Exit 136 and back, while other ramps at the interchange remain open, and SCDOT urges extra caution around work crews.
3. Top takeaways and storylines from another week of Lexington County football (lexingtonchronicle.com) — High school football fans in Lexington County saw lopsided scores last week, including Lexington's first win of the season and dominant performances from River Bluff, Pelion, Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Northside Christian. The roundup highlights standout players, key blowouts, and sets up this week's must-watch matchups involving Chapin, Pelion, White Knoll, Gilbert, and River Bluff.
4. Cayce Police arrest person in connection with fatal hit-and-run (abccolumbia.com) — Cayce police have arrested a suspect in a fatal August 23 hit-and-run after he turned himself in and was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. Investigators, working with the Lexington County Coroner's Office and state highway patrol, used surveillance and traffic-camera footage to identify the vehicle and continue to pursue additional leads in the case.
