Today's riddle: What is the difference between black eyed peas and chick peas? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Judge blocks Lexington in ruling awarding water customers to West Columbia (thestate.com) — Lexington must pay $5.7 million and transfer hundreds of water customers to West Columbia after a judge ruled the town improperly added accounts in a disputed service area south of Lake Murray. The order permanently blocks Lexington from expanding water service there and gives the town 120 days to move existing customers, following years of costly litigation between the neighboring municipalities.
• The last of her class: Surviving member of Lexington segregated school turns 107 (lexingtonchronicle.com) — A Lexington woman who attended the historic Rosenwald School is turning 107, and her family is planning another birthday parade along Hendrix Street to honor her life in town. Her story traces a century of change in Lexington, from segregated classrooms and limited job options to school integration and expanded opportunities for her children. It's a vivid slice of local history rooted entirely in Lexington neighborhoods and schools.
• Lexington man sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison (wach.com) — A Lexington resident has been sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison for supplying large quantities of meth, fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs across the Columbia and Lexington County areas. Investigators say multiple stash houses yielded significant narcotics, cash and firearms, and the sentence includes five years of supervised release after prison.
