Her investment banking and philanthropy experience will help guide the bank's growth across the Midlands and beyond, potentially shaping future services and investment in Lexington-area customers and communities.
2. FBI Columbia Summer Heat 2.0 numbers surpass 2025 results (theitem.com) — From Lexington, FBI Columbia is reporting that Operation Summer Heat 2.0 led to 80 arrests, 43 major drug seizures and 40 firearms recovered across South Carolina this summer. The initiative, which surpassed last year's results, focused on dismantling gangs, removing dangerous drugs and weapons, and protecting vulnerable residents in communities like those around Lexington.
3. Lexington federal drug convict gets 18-year sentence (lexingtonchronicle.com) — A Lexington man has been sentenced to more than 18 years in federal prison for supplying meth, fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs across the Lexington County and Columbia areas. Investigators tied him to multiple stash houses, large quantities of narcotics and firearms, and say the case was part of a broader federal task force targeting major trafficking organizations.
4. Murdaugh trial judge calls urgent evidentiary hearing following defense's letter (wistv.com) — An urgent evidentiary hearing in the Alex Murdaugh retrial will take place in person at the Lexington Courthouse on October 16, focusing on DNA, phone, ballistics and scan data. The judge ordered prosecutors to respond to defense complaints about delayed evidence access by October 8, ahead of the April 2027 retrial.
5. Nursery Road Elementary receives state arts grant (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Nursery Road Elementary School-Arts Magnet, the only elementary arts magnet in Lexington-Richland School District Five, has received a $12,600 state Distinguished Arts Program grant. The funding will help build a fully equipped theater and expand arts-integrated learning, giving local students more chances to explore media, visual and performing arts in their everyday classes.
