Today's riddle: What do you call a one-legged Big Foot? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. SLED investigating fire at Loris home after person dies. What we know (myrtlebeachonline.com) — An early-morning house fire on Gaylen Street in Loris left one person dead Monday, and state investigators are now reviewing what happened. Loris' police chief says SLED's involvement is standard procedure, and officials have not yet identified the victim or determined how the fire started, so neighbors should expect more updates as the investigation continues.
2. Third person killed in weekend motorcycle crash in Horry County (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Two Loris residents, Richard and Linda Lewis, died after a Saturday night motorcycle crash at the intersection of S.C. 410 and Highway 19 in Loris, marking the county's third motorcycle fatality of the weekend. Earlier that day, another Surfside Beach crash killed a North Carolina rider, as police continue investigating whether the deadly incidents are connected to the busy fall bike rally traffic.
3. Horry County jury convicts North Carolina man in 2024 shooting; sentenced to life (wpde.com) — A Horry County jury has sentenced a North Carolina man to life in prison for the 2024 murder of Tyronda Bellamy inside her home on Alice Drive in Loris. Jurors heard how shell casings matched his gun, and how Bellamy's daughter called 911 after hearing shots, before officers arrested the suspect nearby and recovered the weapon.
4. Here are the rosters for the 2026 Shrine Bowl high school football all-star game (charlotteobserver.com) — A Loris High School standout, offensive lineman Jeffrey Williams, has been selected to represent South Carolina in the prestigious Shrine Bowl all-star football game this December in Spartanburg. The game will showcase top public school seniors from both Carolinas, giving local fans a chance to follow one of their own on a big statewide stage.
