Start fresh in 2013

kids getting organized with their family

2013 starts a new year to get organized, start fresh, let life run a little smoother.  Did you even know that January was National "Get Organized, GO," month? Is it time for your family to turn over a new leaf?  Is it time to declutter, keep a calendar, and get your family on board with you?  Click HERE for some tips on getting organized.  The key is to not get overwhelmed by doing a little at a time.  Don't try to tackle the whole house in an hour.  Get the kids involved.  Set up "trash," "charity," and "keep it" piles.  Maybe your kids have a favorite charity so they can choose where to donate. Don't look at getting rid of everything; think of it as passing on for others to use.  Can't decide what papers to keep?  Most companies are paperless and you only need the year end statements.  Check with a CPA to clarify what you really need and what might be causing extra clutter.  Kids' school work?  Take a digital photo or save just a few of your favorites.  Try to think of what they might want when they are grown.  Are you saving too much?  Bins and baskets are great, but only if the whole family can keep it up.  So, make your system easy to maintain for a smooth way of life in 2013!
