The Top Three Ways to Make Your Next Resolution Stick
Tired of failed resolutions? Try these three tips to make your next resolutions stick like glue!
It is January 24th, and by now, many New Year's resolutions are already sitting by the curb with the recycling waiting to be repurposed again next January 1st. This is a tragedy! Perfectly good resolutions cast out with the garbage just because people did not know how to insert them correctly into their lives. If you or anyone else you know has wasted a perfectly good resolution because you didn't know quite how to install it, try the following three tips to make your next resolution compatible with your current operating system.
1) Write it down and track your progress! Tony Robbin's says, "A life worth living is a life worth recording". If you do not have the steadfastness to physically write down your resolutions and record your progress, you don't really want to accomplish them.
2) Burn the boats. It is said that the Romans used to burn their retreat boats when they went into battle to prevent the desire to stop what they started. That is commitment! When you commit to your next resolution, burn your boats. Go all in and force yourself to follow through on your commitment. Darren Hardy says "commitment is doing what you said you were going to do long after the mood you said it in has left you". Don't give yourself an out. You know change is hard! Don't let yourself off the hook when life gets a little chaotic.
3) Focus on building a dynasty, NOT a winning season. When you look at your resolution, think long term. Don't make the mistake of putting temporary fixes in place to accomplish your resolution when you know the REAL solution requires long term planning. Short term fixes are fine in an emergency, but when you are talking about making a lasting change, think long term. You want to build a dynasty, not have one good season.
