One of South
Carolina’s leading advocates for freedom of information, Jay Bender will speak
on “Honesty Reform” – the need for greater government disclosure, for legal
reforms, and for changes in expectations. Mr. Bender is well known nationally
for his work in media law. He is the attorney for the South Carolina
Press Association and a professor at the School of Journalism and Mass
Communications at the University of South Carolina.
Mr. Bender’s
talk will be preceded by an award-winning documentary, Priceless, which
is recommended by the Brennan Center for Justice. This film focuses on
the influence of lobbyists and special interest money on our national
government.
