County Starts Two Sidewalk Projects

Project will add sidewalk to Anna Knapp Boulevard and Edwards Drive.

Charleston County Government announces it will begin constructing sidewalks on Anna Knapp Boulevard and Edwards Drive in Mount Pleasant on Wednesday, Jan. 16. Both projects are estimated to be completed by Jan. 31.

Anna Knapp Boulevard Sidewalk Project

  • Construct approximately 360 feet of sidewalk
  • Sidewalk will be located behind the existing curb and gutter
  • Connect with existing sidewalks on Mathis Ferry Road and Lake Hunter Circle

Edwards Drive Sidewalk Project

  • Construct approximately 1,400 feet of sidewalk
  • Sidewalk will be located behind the existing curb and gutter
  • Connect with existing sidewalks on Center Street and Edwards Drive

Drivers traveling through the projects’ construction zones are asked to notice traffic control signs and be aware of equipment working in the area at all times.

The goal of the projects is to provide connectivity of the existing sidewalks in the area and provide pedestrians with a safe and efficient way to travel. The projects are funded by the Charleston County Government’s Transportation Sales Tax Program and are being managed by Charleston County Transportation Development staff.
