Great White Shark Runs Along Charleston Coast Over Thanksgiving

As scientists monitor her travel, Mary Lee enjoyed the holiday on the southern East Coast.

The 16-foot great white shark that caught local attention when it swam through the Charleston waters in early November apparently returned for the holidays.

The shark, named Mary Lee by researchers, was tagged with a global positioning device in September off Cape Cod, Mass. Since then, the 3,400-pound shark has meandered along the eastern seaboard.

The Post and Courier notes the shark was detected off the Isle of Palms at Saturday after a busy trip up and down the Lowcountry's coast over the long Thanksgiving weekend.
