Mt. Pleasant Mayor Billy Swails Endorses Mark Smith For Town Council

MT. PLEASANT, SC – The Vote Mark Smith Campaign for Mt. Pleasant, SC Town Council is proud to announce that it has received the endorsement of Mt. Pleasant Mayor Billy Swails.  Swails made his endorsement Monday evening during a house party he hosted at his home.  Smith was previously recommended by the Charleston Trident Realtors Association.

 

Mark Smith said: “I am honored to receive Mayor Swails’ endorsement.  Billy has been a true leader for our community as it continues to become a destination of choice in the Lowcountry.  Mayor Swails’ endorsement is one more indication of the momentum our campaign is building as we look to election day.  I look forward to continuing many of the initiatives started under Mayor Swails’ tenure, as we work to balance our community’s growth with maintaining the quality of life we’ve all come to know and love.

Mark Smith is the co-owner and operator of McAlister-Smith Funeral Homes and Palmetto Cremation Society, located across the Lowcountry.  An area small business owner, Smith is active in the community as the past President of the Rotary Club of Charleston, immediate past Chairman of the Board of the Lowcountry Food Bank, the past Chairman of the Harbour Club Executive Board, Chairman of the South Carolina Aging in Place Coalition, and was appointed by South Carolina Lt. Governor Glenn McConnell to serve on the South Carolina Advisory Council on Aging.  Smith has been a leader in area Republican politics as the President of the East Cooper Republican Club, increasing the Club’s attendance by more than 300% during his tenure as president.  Born and raised in Bamberg, SC, Smith is a graduate of the Andrew Jackson Academy and the Fayetteville Technical Community College.  Mark is the proud father of three boys (Parker, Avery & Domenic) and devoted husband to his wife Elayne.  Mark and his family worship at Seacoast Church.
