For those of you that were unable to attend last night's rezoning meeting I am happy to report that it went exactly as expected with one exception.
There was enough space for the good parents of Mt. Pleasant to come out and listen to the presentation. There was plenty of resources to answer questions and ease concerns. There were community lists and large colorful maps to view. The only thing missing...the poeple. There were very few parents that actually cared enough to attend the meeting and to them I would like to say thank you.
A detailed report was given by Marty Belk with full explanation as to why the changes had to be made. It was well thought out, carefully explained and professionally presented. While I am in full agreement with the need for rezoning I am not sure at this time it will provide enough relief to the overcrowded schools. The projected growth annually is 250 homes, it is my opinion based on current new building that I see this number is definitely too small. Only time will tell.
