It has come to my attention recently that not everyone is aware of the severe overcrowding we face in Mount Pleasant.

James B. Edwards - enrolled 513, capacity 652
Laurel Hill P.S. - enrolled 1028, capacity 883
Jennie Moore - enrolled 732, capacity 683
Mt. Pleasant Academy - enrolled 547, capacity 558
Pinckney Elementary - enrolled 1251, capacity 1052
Sullivan's Island - enrolled 447, capacity 455
Whitesides - enrolled 615, capacity 809
Laing Middle - enrolled 667, capacity 482
Cario Middle - enrolled 1309, capacity 1331
Moultrie Middle - enrolled 805, capacity 945
Wando High - enrolled 3645, capacity 3007
These figures were provided by CCSD on day 3 of school. They have certainly increased since then.
Capacity means building capacity. Many of these schools have trailers / cottages / cabanas / learning centers. They give them a catchy name but essentially they are trailers. The schools which are over capacity are also over capacity with their outdoor trailer space. This is it, there's no more room at the inn!!
