Last night, I had the pleasuring of taking part in the 30th anniversary of the Lowcountry Food Bank. It has been an honor to work with this great organization that is helping so many in our region.
Among those organizations that work hand-in-hand with the Lowcountry Food Bank is the East Cooper Meals on Wheels right here in Mount Pleasant. All of this great work would not be possible without working in conjunction with the Lowcountry Food Bank's Zucker Family Production Kitchen that prepares, cooks, and delivers the food to the amazing staff and volunteers at East Cooper Meals on Wheels, who then packages and delivers daily hot meals to our seniors throughout the Mount Pleasant community. A perfect role model of how working together and not having duplication of services or expenses, more can be done with less. Donors can be assured that their money is going to where it is intended, as 94% of every dollar currently donated to the Food Bank goes directly to feeding people.

As a member of the Mount Pleasant Town Council, I will be committed to empowering organizations like the Lowcountry Food Bank to maintain and improve the quality of life here in the Lowcountry. We need to work in partnership with organizations like this to help our neighbors in need, and do so without the heavy hand of government, but the helping hand of a friend.
