With all of the school board, town council and rezoning meetings we have heard about lately it has been easy to forget about the current building taking place over on Sullivan's Island.
Yes, the new Sullivan's Island Elementary School!
This is a magnet school that will be built for 500 students without room for expansion. Students will be invited to come enjoy their school day on the ocean front. Makes for a nice brochure, doesn't it? Too bad less than half of those students will actually be residents of Sullivan's Island and the Isle of Palms. Too bad this school is being built at the expense of the overcrowded classrooms district wide. Too bad they continue to fast track the building of that school even though there is a pending lawsuit filed by the residents of Sullivan's Island.
I say build that ocean front school...take in that ocean front view...enjoy the fresh sea air...just close to door to the cottage, cabana or TRAILER before you go! The overcrowded students are trying to concentrate.
