Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Following up on yesterday's story about a death investigation in Little River, one person is in custody and the Horry County Police have switched it to a homicide investigation. On Sunday, HCPD went to a home on Little River Inn Lane, and found 55-year-old Amy Kopacz deceased in the home from an apparent assault. A suspect named Colby Kopacz was arrested in Florida in connection with the case, although their exact relationship is unclear. No charges have been filed. (WMBF)
- Horry County PD is also investigating another homicide that happened on Shore Drive in Myrtle Beach. 49-year-old Patrick Smith was initially wounded by a gunshot and also had a broken arm. When EMS arrived at the scene, they thought he had been hit by a car, initially. Smith was taken to an area hospital, where he later died from the gunshot wound. (MyHorryNews.com)
- A 51-year-old woman from North Myrtle Beach was killed after her vehicle hit a tree on Little River Neck Road. The NMB Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash and Horry County Deputy Coroner, Michelle McSpadden, released the woman's name as Del Ann Treat. (wpde.com)
- There was also a crash involving a motorcycle in Surfside Beach that claimed the life of William Winters, aged 55, of Myrtle Beach. Winters was driving Halloween night on Highway 544 when he crashed with an SUV near Ocean Lakes Campground. Two people in the SUV were not injured. South Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
