Experts recommend professionally installed lightning protection systems, whole-home surge suppressors, careful monitoring for post-storm damage, and a close review of insurance coverage to avoid costly surprises when severe weather hits again.
• $72 million renourishment project completed in the Grand Strand (wmbfnews.com) — A $72 million beach renourishment project that rebuilt dunes and widened beaches from North Myrtle Beach through Myrtle Beach to Surfside Beach and Garden City has just wrapped up. The work is designed to better protect oceanfront property from storm surge and erosion, and the Army Corps of Engineers will keep monitoring how the Grand Strand shoreline holds up.
