New McLeod Health hospital set to open in Carolina Forest this fall (wpde.com) — A brand-new McLeod Health hospital is set to open this fall just off International Drive on McLeod Health Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, bringing 24/7 emergency care and inpatient services closer to Carolina Forest residents. The $90 million, four-story facility will offer 48 beds, surgery, imaging, lab work, and rehabilitation, becoming the first inpatient hospital dedicated to the rapidly growing Carolina Forest community.
   

4. Two dead, one injured in Surfside Beach shooting (myhorrynews.com) — A woman who lived at Myrtle Beach Resort and a man from Georgetown died in an apparent murder‑suicide late Wednesday at the Murphy gas station in Surfside Beach. Horry County police say a third person suffered non‑life‑threatening injuries, all parties are accounted for, and there is no ongoing threat as the investigation continues.
   

5. HCS Scholars Academy named 18th best high school in the nation (myhorrynews.com) — HCS Scholars Academy has been ranked the 18th best high school in the entire nation and second in South Carolina, a major point of pride for Horry County families. The selective program, partnered with Coastal Carolina University, draws gifted students from nine attendance zones and boasts 100% four-year college placement, high AP scores, and millions in scholarships for its small graduating classes.
