📰 News we're reading

1. LIST: Labor Day marks end of some seasonal rules for beaches along Grand Strand (wpde.com) — Starting Tuesday, Myrtle Beach residents can once again bring leashed dogs and bicycles onto the beach and set up larger tents behind the umbrella line through April 30. The article also breaks down similar post–Labor Day rule changes for North Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach, Pawleys Island, and Horry County, helping you plan fall beach outings across the Grand Strand.

2. Fords at the Shore kicks off inaugural year on the Grand Strand (wmbfnews.com) — A new nine-day "Fords at the Shore" car week is underway across Myrtle Beach and neighboring Grand Strand communities, bringing Ford enthusiasts, business discounts, and charitable fundraising to town. Organizers are coordinating with the city on safety, aiming for a family-friendly atmosphere, and already planning to make the event an annual Myrtle Beach tradition.

3. Seven Chicks, Fewer Than 20,000 Survivors (aldianews.com) — Ripley's Aquarium of Myrtle Beach has welcomed a record seven African penguin chicks this year, giving locals a rare chance to see a critically endangered species thriving under human care. Conservation experts, however, stress that wild African penguin numbers remain under 20,000 and continue to fall, making these Myrtle Beach hatchings hopeful but far from a solution.

4. Busy sea turtle season continues along South Carolina coast (abcnews4.com) — Myrtle Beach State Park is in the middle of a busy sea turtle nesting season, with recent inventories showing both successful and unsuccessful nests along the local shoreline. Volunteers are urging Grand Strand beachgoers to fill in sand holes, remove trash, avoid bright lights at night, and are inviting the public to a nest inventory at beach access S1 tomorrow morning.
