Rally supports unhoused community at Chapin Park (wmbfnews.com) — Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach hosted a rally calling attention to the city's unhoused residents and connecting them with local resources. Organizers from Myrtle Beach Community Hub and Fresh Brewed Coffee House, along with Mayor Mark Kruea, emphasized moving people from crisis to stability and reducing stigma around homelessness through practical support and community solidarity.
2. Opening day kicks off 8 weeks of baseball, belonging to Grand Strand Miracle League (wbtw.com) — Adaptive baseball is underway in Myrtle Beach as the Grand Strand Miracle League launches eight weeks of inclusive games at James C. Brenton Miracle League Field. Local families say the league helps children and adults with disabilities build friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging, supported by volunteer buddies and a tight-knit community of parents and players.
3. Guy Fieri makes appearance in Myrtle Beach at Downtown Flavortown (myhorrynews.com) — Guy Fieri's Downtown Flavortown at Myrtle Beach Mall held its official ribbon-cutting, drawing hundreds of fans and a visit from the celebrity chef himself. Fieri also filmed local "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" segments, praising Myrtle Beach's food scene and highlighting the new restaurant's games, bowling, and bar as a major new entertainment option for residents.
4. North Myrtle Beach marks 25th anniversary of Sept. 11 attacks (myhorrynews.com) — North Myrtle Beach marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks with a solemn ceremony at the Sports Complex war memorial, featuring a 21-gun salute, wreath-laying, and musical tributes. Local police, firefighters, clergy, and Mayor J. Baldwin joined about 300 attendees to honor nearly 3,000 victims and fallen first responders, including 343 New York firefighters.
5. $72M Grand Strand beach renourishment project completed (wpde.com) — A $72 million beach renourishment project from North Myrtle Beach to Garden City has finished, adding sand and building up dunes to better protect coastal communities, including Myrtle Beach. Officials say the wider beaches and higher dunes should help shield homes, roads, and businesses from storm surge for up to a decade, depending on future storms.
