Oak Street improvements in Myrtle Beach on track for mid-October completion (wpde.com) β Roadwork on Oak Street near the Myrtle Beach City Services Building is on schedule to finish by mid-October, with sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping now underway. Drivers should also expect a five-day daytime closure on Arundel Road for major water-main work, while the planned Ninth Avenue North project has been pushed back to fall 2027 to lessen impacts on nearby businesses.

This Myrtle Beach seafood restaurant snagged top spot in US for its casual dining (myrtlebeachonline.com) β Hook & Barrel on North Kings Highway has been named the top casual dining restaurant in the United States by Tripadvisor's Travelers' Choice Best of the Best awards. The Myrtle Beach seafood spot, already a James Beard semifinalist, also ranked seventh worldwide, drawing praise from thousands of reviewers for its fresh catch, filet with shrimp, and polished yet relaxed atmosphere.

3. Magnolia's at 26th in Myrtle Beach closes; new location being built near Conway (wbtw.com) β A longtime Myrtle Beach favorite, Magnolia's at 26th, has closed less than a year after changing ownership, ending operations at its oceanfront location. Founder Bobby Anderson's family plans to reopen as Magnolia's Cafe on Highway 701 North near Conway this fall, with construction already about halfway complete and aiming to welcome loyal locals back later in the year.

Tripadvisor expands 2026 Travelers' Choice Awards to spotlight culinary experiences (traveldailymedia.com) β Myrtle Beach's own Hook & Barrel just earned a major national spotlight, ranking No. 1 for casual dining in the U.S. and No. 7 worldwide in Tripadvisor's 2026 Travelers' Choice Awards. The list, based on millions of diner reviews, highlights the restaurant's sustainable seafood and warm hospitality as culinary travel becomes a bigger draw for visitors.
