1. Thorny's in Myrtle Beach closes after 22 years, restaurant says (wbtw.com) — A longtime Myrtle Beach staple, Thorny's bar and grill on South Kings Highway, is closing after 22 years so its owners can slow down and spend more time with family. The restaurant says it's negotiating with potential new owners, leaving the future of the popular property still to be decided.
2. Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union celebrated new Executive Offices & Operations Center with a ribbon cutting (cuinsight.com) — Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union has opened new Executive Offices and an Operations Center on Oleander Drive in Myrtle Beach, strengthening its long-standing local roots. Leaders say the expanded headquarters will boost infrastructure and capacity to better serve members across the area while keeping the institution's home base firmly in Myrtle Beach.
3. Magnolia's At 26th Closes With Plans To Open New Location (wfxb.com) — A longtime Myrtle Beach favorite, Magnolia's at 26th on North Ocean Boulevard, has closed after 20 years, though owners say the shutdown is temporary while they plan a new concept there. They're also opening a new Conway spot on Highway 701 North with a meat-and-three menu and the restaurant's popular farm-sourced fried chicken served daily.
4. Grand Strand food banks stretch resources as need grows (wmbfnews.com) — Myrtle Beach's Helping Hand food pantry is now serving over 1,000 households a month, already surpassing its total 2024 caseload just eight months into 2026. As rising costs strain supplies across Horry County, local food banks are urgently asking residents for monetary donations, nonperishable items, and volunteer time to keep families and pets fed.
5. Ocean Boulevard to close Saturday for South Atlantic Shrine parade (wbtw.com) — Ocean Boulevard on Myrtle Beach's south end will be closed to regular traffic Saturday morning for the South Atlantic Shrine Association Parade, with parking banned along the route. From 8:45 a.m. to about 1 p.m., drivers should expect delays, use the designated northbound emergency access lane if staying oceanside, and follow officers' directions at key intersections.
