1. Documents reveal costs of Trump's Myrtle Beach visit (wbtw.com) — Myrtle Beach officials have detailed how much the city and other parties spent on last month's Trump rally at the convention center, including more than $64,000 in city overtime costs. Documents also show the Republican National Committee and private vendors covered convention center, AV, and communications expenses tied to the event.
2. Myrtle Beach approves $20 million investment in wave park (myhorrynews.com) — Myrtle Beach City Council has approved a $20 million incentive package for a massive surf park project near Broadway at the Beach, bringing South Carolina's first man‑made wave lagoon to town. The development, requiring at least $150 million in private investment, will include a large wave lagoon, hotel, and food, beverage, and retail space aimed at boosting year‑round tourism.
3. 'It was just awful': Neighbor describes scene of fire that displaced 6 in Horry County (wbtw.com) — Six residents were displaced after an early-morning fire at the Marsh Hills complex off Edgerton Drive near Myrtle Beach, where one condo was heavily damaged and three others had smoke and water damage. Horry County Fire Rescue contained the blaze in about 90 minutes, no injuries were reported, and the Red Cross is assisting affected residents while the cause is investigated.
4. Coastal Carolina students hear firsthand homelessness story at Myrtle Beach coffeehouse (wpde.com) — In Myrtle Beach, Coastal Carolina University students visited Fresh Brewed Coffee House to hear directly from a man who has experienced homelessness and the local support he received. Their professor estimates about 3,000 people are homeless in the Myrtle Beach area, and students will soon interview more residents to better understand their stories and needs.
