Tourism leaders say this packed lineup helps keep restaurants open year-round, protects local jobs, and even helps hold down taxes while improving quality of life for residents across the Grand Strand.
2. Fall Bike Rally brings thousands of riders to the Grand Strand (wbtw.com) — Thousands of bikers are pouring into the Grand Strand this week for the Fall Bike Rally, with rides, vendors, and concerts stretching from North Myrtle Beach down to Georgetown through October 4. Expect heavier traffic, packed local bars and restaurants like Murrells Inlet's Beaver Bar, and plenty of chances to people-watch or join in the motorcycle festivities close to home.
3. City of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina leaders celebrate completion of beach restoration project by GLDD (dredgewire.com) — Myrtle Beach's shoreline is now part of a freshly completed $72 million Grand Strand beach renourishment project, restoring nearly 28 miles of coast after recent hurricanes. The work, led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, is designed to better protect local homes, businesses, roads, and utilities from future coastal storms.
4. A focus on fun and care: Mrs. Sarah Hughes is September's Champion of the Classroom (wpde.com) — A North Myrtle Beach Middle School science teacher, Sarah Hughes, has been honored as September's first-ever Champion of the Classroom for her hands-on experiments and deep care for students. Colleagues and kids praise her fun labs, safe environment, and support at school and beyond, and residents can even nominate other standout educators for future monthly awards.
