These Grand Strand beaches reported to have the worst trash in South Carolina (thestate.com) — Myrtle Beach tops a new ranking of South Carolina beaches where visitors complain most about trash, based on thousands of Tripadvisor reviews flagging litter, dirty conditions, and bad smells. Still, nearly two-thirds of reviewers rate the beach as excellent, and nearby North Myrtle Beach spots like Windy Hill and Crescent Beach also earn strong overall marks despite similar concerns.
3. Growing a Nation of Lifesavers in Horry County MyrtleBeachSC News (myrtlebeachsc.com) — Students at Myrtle Beach High and other Horry County schools will now train with new American Heart Association CPR and first-aid kits, funded locally by HTC. The reusable equipment helps schools meet South Carolina's CPR graduation requirement and supports the state's Smart Heart Act, aiming to better prepare teens to respond in cardiac emergencies.
4. Olympic gold medalist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden mentors young athletes in Myrtle Beach (wbtw.com) — Myrtle Beach youth runners just trained with Olympic gold medalist Melissa Jefferson-Wooden at a city-hosted track and field development clinic, gaining tips on sprinting, mindset, and hard work. The program, now drawing athletes from across the Carolinas, continues this fall with another clinic on Oct. 24 focused on field events.
