• Myrtle Beach police chief officially sworn in (myhorrynews.com) — Myrtle Beach's new police chief, Frederick Chambers, has now been formally sworn in, making his leadership of the Myrtle Beach Police Department official after a nationwide search. City leaders and residents were involved in the selection, and officials say they expect Chambers to guide the city's police force into "the Myrtle Beach of tomorrow."
• Free parking begins in downtown Myrtle Beach (myhorrynews.com) — If you park in downtown Myrtle Beach, you can now use city-owned spaces east of Kings Highway from 21st Avenue North to Sixth Avenue South for free through February 28, 2027. Meters will be clearly marked, apps will show no payment is needed, and overnight parking remains allowed where posted, though sleeping in vehicles and parking RVs or trailers is still prohibited.
