Myrtle Beach City Council, Chamber of Commerce discuss Tourism Development Fees (myhorrynews.com) — Myrtle Beach officials just reviewed how the city's one-percent Tourism Development Fee brings in over $43 million a year and how that money is spent. Most funds go to the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for marketing to out-of-state visitors, with the rest available for property tax relief or tourism-related projects that can affect local services and infrastructure.
2. Isaias likely to become a hurricane. How much rain to expect for Myrtle Beach area (thestate.com) — Tropical Storm Isaias is expected to strengthen into a hurricane but track west of the Carolinas, still bringing 2–4 inches of rain and slight flash-flood risk to the Myrtle Beach area. Local officials urge residents to review Horry County's hurricane guide, prepare 72-hour emergency kits, and understand evacuation zones and shelter transportation options in case conditions worsen.
3. 2026 Myrtle Beach Greek Festival Returns (myhorrynews.com) — Myrtle Beach residents can gear up for the 2026 Greek Festival at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, running Oct. 15–18 with free shuttle service from Captain George's. You'll find extensive Greek food, pastries, church tours, daily prayer services, dance performances, and kids' activities, making it a family-friendly way to enjoy local culture and cuisine.
4. Nearly 3 acres of land being cleared in Myrtle Beach. What's being built there? (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Nearly three acres near downtown Myrtle Beach are being cleared for Serenity at 10th, an 89-unit apartment complex at Robert Grissom Parkway and Mr. Joe White Avenue. The project will offer one- and two-bedroom multifamily units, though an opening date isn't yet known, signaling more housing options and construction activity in the city's core.
