Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:

1. Myrtle Beach is always a popular destination for having fun! Recently the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce reflected on its past successes as a tourism mecca and set the groundwork for the future with an eye on the impact of inflation and thoughts of a recession looming. In an effort to bring even more people to the area, the Chamber announced that it will be planning more community events to get people out and visiting businesses. According to wpde.com, President and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce Karen Riordan said, " Myrtle Beach's economy has survived past recessions and economic hardships, and the chamber expects it to remain stable even if there is one this year." 2. A newly launched softball league for men over 70 is keeping area residents in shape and happy, pursuing a past time they love. The over-70 league, run by Senior Softball Myrtle Beach, is expected to start up by the end of March. This is a true testament to doing what you love keeps you young! (WMBF)
3. The Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance has announced that Swig & Swine's will be coming to the Grand Strand soon featuring a mouthwatering menu filled with everything a BBQ lover could imagine. 4. Two boaters ran into a dangerous situation on Thursday evening that necessitated the Horry County Fire Rescue and North Myrtle Beach Rescue to be called for help. Reportedly the craft was taking on water. One occupant of the vessel (who is reportedly 23 years old) was still missing at the time of this report.
