This is the debut of the Myrtle Beach, SC Patch Daily Newsletter — your go-to for daily news and events all along The Grand Strand.

My name is Kathy Mandell. I moved to the Myrtle Beach area from New England in 2018. There is so much to do and see here, and so many great people. I have worked as a writer, and a wearer-of-many hats, in both the tourism industry and the pet industry, for over 30 years. Make sure to check out this newsletter every day, and if you like what you see, tell a friend or two!

Today, I'll give you an update about beach parking in Garden City and elsewhere, we'll talk about the proposed amphitheater, two happy endings, and an update on the rezoning request for a new branch of Tidelands Hospital.

Officials have passed a preliminary re-zoning request, but definite approval is still a long way off. Tidelands has requested that an 82-acre parcel be re-zoned. Residents have a chance to weigh-in at the next meeting. (WMBF News)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
