Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Kathy Mandell, your host of the Myrtle Beach Daily. It's Monday, November 1, 2021 — the start of a new week and a new month! Let's get this show on the road. Here's everything you need to know around town today.

First, let's look at today's weather:
Pleasant with plenty of sun. High: 70 Low: 52.
Here are the top stories today in Myrtle Beach:
- Myrtle Beach voters: tomorrow is election day! News13's Bob Juback hosted a debate between current Mayor Brenda Bethune, and candidates Bill McClure and Gene Ho. Topics covered were homelessness, Interstate 73, crime, and of course uncontrolled growth and the impact that is having on the city's infrastructure. Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd. Candidates Tammie Durant and C.D. Rozsa are also in the running. (WBTW)
- Just a reminder that free parking season starts today in most of Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, with a few exceptions for private parking lots. Online registration for Myrtle Beach residential parking decals has been temporarily suspended, but the decals can be picked up in-person at the parking office of the Pavilion Parking Garage (Myrtle Beach). (wpde.com) Residential parking decal info for North Myrtle Beach residents can be found here: (nmb.us)
- Police in Myrtle Beach arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenage girl and giving her marijuana and alcohol. The man was also charged with giving weed and alcohol to an 11-year-old girl. Both incidents were alleged to have happened in late September or early October, according to the arrest warrant. The man is being held on $110,000 bond for charges including criminal sexual conduct, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. (WBTW)
- Friends and family of Tristan Vereen held a rally for justice over the weekend. The 33-year-old was shot to death by SC Highway Patrol Trooper Benton on September 11th. Rally participants included Vereen's family, activist groups, and concerned citizens who are seeking justice on his behalf. The group has two demands: they want to know why Benton was not in possession of a police body cam, and they want him arrested for murder. The group also brought up tomorrow being Election Day, and urged voters to cast their vote for the candidates who will most accurately represent the community. (wpde.com)
- Horry County police were investigating a death in Little River as of the time of this posting. The investigation was taking place near Little River Inn Lane, off Highway 17. Authorities have indicated that there is no danger to the public associated with the case, and details were also not made available. Further updates will be reported when received. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
