Here are the top five stories today in Myrtle Beach:

  1. A trio of Coastal Carolina players will be signing with NFL teams, while other Chanticleer players have been invited to rookie minicamps. Shermari Jones and Jaivon Heiligh will both sign with the Cincinnati Bengals, and Silas Kelly is going with the Cleveland Browns. The players invited to rookie camps include Kameron Brown, C.J. Brewer, Alex Spillum, and Derick Bush. (WMBF)
  2. ICYMI: Sea turtle nesting season has officially begun. The turtles are protected under the Federal Endangered Species Act of 1973, and anyone who disturbs the creatures, their nests, or their eggs can face fines up to $15,000. Always watch from a distance, keep lights out, pick up your trash, and let the turtles enjoy a flat, quiet beachscape with no holes or piles of sand left over from human play time. Turtle hatchlings should never be picked up to assist them into the ocean because they rely on their own navigational system to find their way, and to survive. (wpde.com)
  3. National Drug Take Back Day was Saturday, and the MBPD along with Tidelands Health and Shoreline Behavioral Health joined up to take back meds at the drop-off event in Market Common. Law enforcement and the two health agencies want to do this more often than the national Take Back day. This year, a total of four boxes of unused medications were turned in. Safely disposing of drugs at a take back facility is good for the environment, and keeps the medications away from someone who may abuse the drugs. Plus, it's a good thing to clear out your medicine cabinet every once in a while. (WMBF)
  4. Check out this up-to-date batch of new real estate listings in the Myrtle Beach area. (Myrtle Beach Patch)
  5. Myrtle Beach International Airport: Whether you're looking for a mountain escape or urban retreat, nonstop flights to two great destinations are back: ✈️➡️Denver International Airport on Frontier Airlines ✈️➡️Kansas City International Airport on Southwest Airlines. (Facebook)

Myrtle Beach pic of the day:

Monday's pic of the day comes to us from Kathleen Carhart. Kathleen sent in this picture of the beach in the late afternoon (my favorite time of day for beaching!). Thanks for the great photo, Kathleen!

You're officially in the loop for Monday, folks. I'll see you Tuesday morning for another installment of the Myrtle Beach Daily!

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
