Here are the top stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Myrtle Beach Police responded to an aggravated assault in the parking lot at Coastal Grand Mall on Friday night. Officers are investigating, and determined that the two people involved were embroiled in a domestic incident. The victim was treated for injuries, and there was no risk to the community. (wpde.com)
- A pedestrian was killed on Highway 17 south of Atlantic Beach in the wee hours of Saturday morning. The person was walking east across the roadway when the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet, traveling north, struck them. The driver was not injured, and SC Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation. - Grand Strand residents react to supply chain shortages as the area experiences the impact first-hand. Residents are saying everything is more expensive, and those waiting for online orders to ship are waiting longer. Professor Sanjay Ahire of University of SC says the Grand Strand is having the same experience as the rest of the United States. Groceries, electronics and other prices are increasing throughout the country. (WPDE)
- The City of North Myrtle Beach is reviewing plans for more new homes in the Grand Dunes North development, which will add hundreds of homes west of the Intracoastal Waterway. Another subdivision in the Barefoot Resort district is being reviewed that will result in more than 50 townhomes. Two meetings on the topic will be held this coming Tuesday. (WBTW)
- Myrtle Beach Jazz Festival returned to the Grand Strand this weekend after being one of many local events cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19. Local vendors felt the pinch of the cancellation last year, and while getting everything up and running this time around was challenging, they are thrilled to be back. The event continues today on Carver Street, near Charlie's Place. (WMBF)

About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
